World Meteorological Day

Today is World Meteorological Day, celebrating the origin of the World Meteorological Organization since 1950. The theme of this year's celebration is "The Future of Weather, Climate and Water across Generations".

Thanks to the WMO the world has global programs for flood management, disaster risk reduction, emergency response, atmosphere watch, climate observing systems, data-processing and forecasting systems, hydrology and water resources, instruments and methods of observation, and numerous other topics. Freely accessible, accurate, and complete records of weather parameters greatly help determine the performance of green infrastructure in the LILa-GI project, which is why I take the time to appreciate we have such resources available to us to build upon for our own research.
