From 10-14 April it is National Bee Counting days. You can join counting through this website. Bee there!
As per the website, the more we know about bees, the better we can help the bee. That's why we are asking everyone to participate in this nationwide bee survey. There are nearly 360 species of bees in the Netherlands. More than half of them are endangered. Bees are important for pollination. “80% of our edible crops and almost 90% of our wild plants are pollinated by bees and other insects,” said Koos Biesmeijer, bee expert at Naturalis.
Even if you don't know how to tell different species apart, the website can help with that. It only takes 30 minutes of dry weather to count. We hope to count this next year at the LILa site once the green roofs and walls are installed.
